About the Craftsman 1BR ADU

How it's designed

A craftsman detached backyard ADU, 600 sq ft inside, compact in shape: 1 bedroom and 1 bath, an open layout with a full kitchen, a stacked closet and 9 ft ceilings.

Outside: a gable roof in asphalt shingle, horizontal lap siding in sage with white trim, standard windows in white frames, a single door entry and a small covered porch.

Inside: standard finishes in a classic style, wood-look vinyl floors, white shaker cabinets, white quartz counters and a walk-in shower. Heating and cooling by a ductless mini-split.

Pictured with dusk light, lush garden landscaping, front view and minimal styling. The setting is styling only, not part of the design or the estimate.

Will it fit on my lot? Free check

Enter your California address: we check your lot against the local ADU rules from public records and show what could fit. Licensed partner designers and builders do the design and construction; we coordinate the project with them.

Free. No credit card required. The City of Sacramento, the City of San Jose, unincorporated Sacramento County, the City of Los Angeles, the City of Citrus Heights, the City of Elk Grove, the City of Folsom, the City of Rancho Cordova, the City of San Diego and the City of El Monte for now; other areas get a partial check.

Want to build it?

We'll match you with a licensed designer and builder in your area and coordinate the project. Free consult, no obligation.

Licensed partner designers and builders do the design and construction, and the builder holds the construction contract. Partners are signed in some areas so far; elsewhere we'll tell you plainly what we can do.

Pictures and the 3D are conceptual. A licensed designer turns a design idea into real drawings, and the city or county approves them. More ADU design ideas
