About the Framed glass pavilion ADU

How it's designed

A modern detached backyard ADU, 500 sq ft inside, wide and shallow in shape: 1 bedroom and 1 bath, an open layout with a full kitchen, a stacked closet and 10 ft ceilings.

Outside: a flat roof in flat membrane, the roof slab and end walls framing the front like a deep portal, stucco siding in white with natural wood trim, floor-to-ceiling windows in black frames, a sliding glass entry and a slab steps.

Inside: standard finishes in a warm modern style, hardwood floors, wood flat-panel cabinets, white quartz counters and a walk-in shower. Heating and cooling by a ductless mini-split.

Pictured with dusk light, pavers in gravel landscaping, front view and minimal styling, staged as a guest rental. The setting is styling only, not part of the design or the estimate.

Will it fit on my lot? Free check

Enter your California address: we check your lot against the local ADU rules from public records and show what could fit. Licensed partner designers and builders do the design and construction; we coordinate the project with them.

Free. No credit card required. The City of Sacramento, the City of San Jose, unincorporated Sacramento County, the City of Los Angeles, the City of Citrus Heights, the City of Elk Grove, the City of Folsom, the City of Rancho Cordova, the City of San Diego and the City of El Monte for now; other areas get a partial check.

Want to build it?

We'll match you with a licensed designer and builder in your area and coordinate the project. Free consult, no obligation.

Licensed partner designers and builders do the design and construction, and the builder holds the construction contract. Partners are signed in some areas so far; elsewhere we'll tell you plainly what we can do.

Pictures and the 3D are conceptual. A licensed designer turns a design idea into real drawings, and the city or county approves them. More ADU design ideas
